Hi, I’m Elaina and I’ve been involved in Science Olympiad since 2021! I enjoy competing in the physical science & inquiry events such as Machines, Materials Science, Optics, and WIDI. Outside of Science Olympiad, you can find me indulging in Trader Joes snacks or rearranging my 300 Spotify playlists.
Ella Yao

Hi, I’m Ella, and I’m a senior in my sixth year of competing in Science Olympiad. I’ve participated in a variety of events, with Experimental Design being my favorite. In my free time, I enjoy playing strategy-based board games with my friends!
Nimal Kumar
Executive Vice President
Hi! I’m Nimal, and this is my fourth year in MVSO! My main events are more on the Astronomy side but I do a lot of Forensics and Ecology/Water Quality, having medalled in all my events at least once nationally. It’s been a while, but my favorite competitions would have to be the ones at MIT and the MSU Nationals. I also do marching band and wind ensemble (shoutout to saxophones)!
Harvey Lei

Hi, I’m Harvey a senior in Science Olympiad who continues to gets carried by his event partners. Favorite events still include Dynamic Planet (glaciers are the best). It’s a shame Materials Science is gone, but Rocks and Minerals is nice. Too many people take rocks for granite.
Rehan Babu

Hi. I’m Rehan, a senior entering my 7th year of Science Olympiad. I’ve participated in various events over the years. Outside of MVSO, I love to watch movies and listen to music.
Anirud Sainarayanan

I’m Anirud, currently a senior who will be entering my 6th year in Science Olympiad. I compete in both study and build events, with some of my favorites being Ecology, Electric Vehicle, and Engineering CAD. I like to learn new things and enjoy spending time with friends. I am excited for my final year of Science Olympiad!

I’m Vibha, a senior who has been involved in Science Olympiad for six years. I’ve competed in events such as Engineering CAD and Remote Sensing, and my favorite event is Astronomy. In my free time, I enjoy reading, drawing, and playing badminton with my friends and family.

Kunal Bhatia

Hi! I’m Kunal, and I’m a rising junior excited to head into my fourth year of Science Olympiad. I primarily compete in biology and earth science events, with Entomology and Rocks and Minerals being two of my favorites. I’ve qualified for Nationals in all three of my years competing, and my favorite experience was last year’s tournament in Nebraska. Outside of Science Olympiad, I enjoy playing basketball and listening to music.

Hi, I’m Bryan. I’m a junior and this is my fifth year in Science Olympiad. I mainly compete in Earth science events, with my favorite being astronomy. In my free time I enjoy camping, hiking, writing music, playing piano, playing trombone, and sleeping.

I’ve placed 1st at Nationals in Potions & Poisons, and some of my other events are Forensics, Water Quality, and Entomology. I’ve been to nationals 3 times with my favorite being 2024 at Michigan. Outside of Science Olympiad, I love to hang out with my friends and play basketball.

I love to compete in Chemistry Competitions outside of Science Olympiad, and achieved honors last year in the National Chemistry Olympiad. Personally, I love playing board games with friends and watching anime.

I’ve competed across a wide range of device, lab, and binder events but my favorites are Water Quality and Experimental Design, as both involve designing and testing engineering solutions to real-world problems. My favorite Science Olympiad memory is winning Nationals. In my free time, I love reading, collecting enamel pins, and playing badminton with my friends.
